I have texting on my phone. What makes this different?

The biggest difference is this is one to many. When someone texts your business landline multiple people can see the incoming text and any one of them can respond based availability or appropriateness. A log of all texts are maintained so that management can review the conversations, use it for training or to re-assign agents to customers. Additionally, the customer never sees the agents personal phone number. Texting from your personal cellphone is great for personal conversations but this is builtt for business.

Does this cause issues with my voice service?

No, although the number is the same, text and voice providers use different networks and are separate. Your voice service will not change at all and they won't be involved in your SMS service.
